October 31st, 2014 A Sugar Free Halloween

October 31st, 2014 A Sugar Free Halloween

A colleague of mine brought me a slice of pumpkin bread from Starbucks as a "Happy Halloween" gesture. This particular colleague is in a different department than me and we rarely converse about anything other than work related things--in fact, we only talk about work related things. It wasn't a surprise to me and I know that it was a sincere gesture.

Rachel Vinson, via Twitter, let me know the slice checks in at 600 calories!! Of course, the sugar content immediately disqualified it for me.

I decided my "Happy Halloween" would be my first ever sugar-free Halloween. I'm happy to report I made it through just fine. It is Halloween and I'm a very happy person, so I did have a happy Halloween--sugar free!! I'm super proud, can you tell?

Today was a good food day. Yesterday I didn't eat any corn tortilla type products--today, I was back at it in full force! :) I love 'em! I enjoy what I eat--it's a pleasure. And really, it's one of the "secrets" to my success. It's important!

I'm a judge at a big Halloween Party tomorrow night where I'll be made up for the first time in 30 years. I haven't dressed for Halloween since 1984. I will be a zombie. That's right, an un-dead Sean tomorrow night! Oh, there will be pictures.

Oh--by the way, that pumpkin bread? I never looked in the package. I offered it to an in-studio guest this morning, who enthusiastically accepted!

  1. You know Zombie Sean, brains are sugar free. Just saying. Hey, I tried Mancakes tonight. Have you heard of them? They are a high protein pancake mix. I must say they are AWESOME! Expensive, but one 1/2 cup of the mix with 1/2 cup of water has 23 grams of protein and 28 grams of carbs. I don't eat pancakes anymore because they are all carbs, but now that I got this, I will have them a few times a week. they are low sugar too. Have fun at the judging.

  4. Congrats on a sugar free Halloween! I had a mini chocolate bar. I didn't beat myself up over it because I knew it fit in my calorie day.
You are strong to pass up the pumpkin bread! OH boy , that is a big trigger for me. But I'm deteremined to find one sugar/low fat I can make. So far I don't like the calorie count in them but I'm still searching!
Have fun dressing up and judging and a good weekend!

    1. Thank you, Rosie!! Congrats on exercising wonderful control on Halloween!! That's the way to go, if you want that taste--the mini, or bite size gives you all the taste/flavor, within a reasonable calorie count!
Yeah--surprisingly it wasn't hard to pass up, really. The way I feel being sugar free is something I hold near and dear--and even Starbucks fancy pumpkin bread will not loosen my hold! ;)
If you find one that's sugar free/low fat, with reasonable calories--let me know! I bet you'll find something good!
I'm looking forward to later this evening. It'll be a blast!

    1. Nancy--thank you, very much!! It's certainly about perspective. My mindset is locked in to feeling good and remaining positive. I just knew if I allowed even the smallest amount--it would send all things dear to me, unraveling into the abyss!! (maybe a touch dramatic there, but really--something like that, for sure!!) If I can do it, anyone can--I assure you!
