April 11th, 2017 Not By The Plan

April 11th, 2017 Not By The Plan

Today: I maintained the integrity of my maintenance calorie budget, I remained refined sugar-free, I exceeded my daily water goal, I stayed well connected with support, and I completed a good workout tonight.

It was not by the plan and schedule I had for today, (a workout after work-before going home) but all goals were met none the less. No way was I missing a workout tonight.

Today was the one year anniversary of my Today Show appearance. That brought back some wonderful memories!

Mom had company today from Stillwater. Aunt Margaret and Aunt Connie made the trip to visit and take mom to lunch. I paused long enough to run up to where they were dining to give hugs and say hello. I'm glad I did.

  1. Still working my way thru your podcasts. Enjoying them in the car and around the house.

In the last ten minutes of the Winifred Morice podcast, she talks about babies and food. I agree with what she said. And I was glad she said it. Not many do.

Every chart I have ever seen on starting babies on solid food is wrong, in my opinion. I think you start with cooked/mashed green veggies. I think that establishes good taste buds.

I agree with Winifred that if start with fruit or add fruit to everything, the babies get hooked on sweet.

It drives me a little crazy that families, with a lot of obesity, do not correct the food problems they have been teaching for generations, in their kids.

Thinking "kid food" is wrong on every level. What we learn to eat in our recovery process, clean/one ingredient food, is what we need to eat as a family.

Teach kids to cook, not bake. Teach kids to shop and prep and eat one ingredient foods. Teach kids to combine one ingredient foods into dishes/meals.

This is so important for stopping obesity trends in families.

  2. Jordan Burgess podcast. WOW.

"My mindset started to swing from I have a weight problem to, I have a food problem."
    (about minute 28:45)

"Be willing to let go of what you think you know. "
    (about minute 38:45)

"My best thinking got me to to 537 pounds."
    (shortly thereafter)

  3. You might have already taken care of your mom's phone. If not, they make geriatric cell phones. Simple, larger numbers and screens.
