October 24th, 2014 Their Turn Is Coming Once Again

October 24th, 2014 Their Turn Is Coming Once Again

I enjoyed sleeping in today. I woke up and immediately needed to get ready to join Heather and her daughter in Tulsa for the day. Breaking my normal routine is sometimes tough. I normally relax with coffee, prepare breakfast--pack it, transport it and eat it about two hours after I initially wake.  I also cook eggs 98% of the time. It's become the breakfast I enjoy the most, it seems. I do change it up with different styles and preparations, but still, eggs--most everyday.

This morning I enjoyed a serving of Vanilla Shakeology with a banana and cashew milk. Oh, by the way--that's not a typo, Cashew Milk! The unsweetened cashew milk is a low 25 calories per cup. That's a lot of non-dairy milk for not a lot of calories! And the taste was wonderful in my Shakeology! I handled the change in routine in stride. It just wasn't a big deal to me. I commented on this dynamic as it applies to other things, today during our drive: I don't get worked up in a hot and negative way about much. I just don't care to, most of the time.

We had several stops, including a stop at a clothing store where I purchased myself a new long sleeve black pullover as a birthday present. It's the perfect size for me now--it won't be in the next 20 pounds or so, and that's okay! I'm going to enjoy wearing it while I can. One of the nice things about where this positive momentum is leading? I have a closet full of clothing I wore between the weights of 230 and 250, just hanging there, waiting for me to pick them once again. And I will, soon. Their turn is coming once again! I don't really know when it will come (I don't do long range calendar speculations) but it will come!

Heather prepared an incredible birthday meal for me tonight. I offered help and she declined, saying she wanted to do it for my birthday. And well, okay! I gladly let her!

Tomorrow morning kicks off what is poised to be a very active Saturday and Sunday. I'm about ready to drop in bed for a decent night's sleep!

Thank you for reading and for your continued support,
Strength,
Sean

  1. Heather cooked you an awesome dinner! Yeah, its eggs 100% of the time do not recall a day I did not have at least one egg these past 10 months. I would go so far to say eggs is a weight loss super food. I can't wait to fit into some of my 2x I have saved for over 20 years. Our time spent together really motivated me, tracked 3 days in a row, under 2500, best nutritional streak to date, which is a rarity for me. I feel the weight loss melting, more importantly, tonight walking to my local casino is the best I felt walking in a few years, absolutly no pain and normal face paced walk. I was tremendously sore day after getting home after eating many foods I normally do not. Three days of perfect nutrition and all this pain gone has me more motivated than any point in my life. Yeah, my third job 33 in a row tonight sums it up. Have a great weekend, make it perfect!

I love the eggs. So many ways to prepare them, to top them--to enjoy them!!
It's so cool you've kept those clothes for 20 years!
I'm simply overjoyed to read about your progress, Jon...tracking well, my friend! And I bet it feels incredible for you to walk without pain again!!
      Incredibly happy for you.

  4. I used to call it "shopping in my closet" and it was a lot of fun. You'll be there before you know it and it will be great! :)

  5. So nice to be treated completely with your meal from Heather - for your birthday. Does she grill outside or have an inside grill aparatus?
Cashew milk available at the regular grocery store? Also the guac you have so often. Do you make it or is it prepared in a container? Coffee creamers from ??? One other food question. When you have a partial fruit, how do you keep the rest of it from turning brown? I sure am full of questions today. Sorry for all the questions but I really need to know in order to have some of the same foods. Thanks Sean!

    1. Nancy-- She grills outside and inside...Outside on a gas grill--and inside on a George Foreman grill.
Yes--the Cashew Milk is Silk brand, available at the store. Might need to look around--It wouldn't surprise me if not every store has it in stock.
I make my own guac 85-90% of the time...I prefer mine to restaurant--except if we're talking about Chipotle's guac--there's is hard to beat--although it's very simplistic, like mine.
I simply mash up an avocado (after weighing it first--so I can get an accurate count on MFP) and add a 1/2 a serving light sour cream, salt and pepper...and if I'm feeling fancy and not in a hurry, I'll add some red onion and tomatoes.
Coffee creamers--the sugar free flavored ones are from CoffeeMate--available at most grocery stores. Just make sure it says "sugar free," because the regular is loaded with sugar.
Put the other half in a sandwich baggie with a teaspoon of lemon juice..seal it and shake it up...keeps the brown away.
Most of the time I don't--I just let it brown, because as long as it is eaten soon, it doesn't effect the taste much.
No worries, Nancy! Always wishing you the best!!

    1. Oh Gwen--I hadn't either until Heather introduced them to me...cut it in half--leave it in the skin, then face down on the grill... and grill it good-- then, take a spoon and enjoy another taste experience... The grilling changes the flavor and consistency in a nice way...I hope you love it!
      She's very good!
