I dined out this evening with Heather, Amber and KL. The four of us dined at an Italian restaurant. Italian restaurants are tough to navigate. It's not impossible, just a little more difficult than your average restaurant. I called ahead to inquire about their menu options. I was checking to see if they served gluten free pasta. I was told they didn't have any on the menu, but they might have some in the back.
I was put on hold by one person and another picked up the line 20 seconds later. They had it in the back. I replied that we would be there between 6:30 and 7pm.
When we arrived we were seated and approached by our server who explained what happened after my phone call earlier in the afternoon. Upon checking, they found whole wheat pasta was the kind they stored in the back for special requests--not gluten free. But it was okay--because they made a special trip to buy some, especially for us!! That's amazing service! It was perfect!

excellent day!!
ReplyDeleteIt was!! And I was simply amazed at the lengths the restaurant went to accommodate. It was fantastic!
Deleteit is wonderful that you cared enough for yourself to call ahead. And look what happened .. they went out of their way to accomodate you.. We went out for lunch yesterday. I ordered fish tacos off the menu and asked about the tortillas. Turns out they're wheat! I asked for corn and got what I needed.
ReplyDeletepeople really want to help us. All it takes is being nice--expressing the need--and showing appreciation for the efforts.
DeleteI was amazed at how far they went. It was incredible!! Great job on the fish tacos!!
That is great service, and great assertiveness on your part. You asked, they provided!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good example of, "You will not know if you do not ask!"
DeleteYou always remind me that it's ok to ask I. Order to make sure you have what you need. I need to not be afraid to "bother" someone when I'm out! Have a great week!
