January 3rd, 2015 Slightly Out Of Sync

January 3rd, 2015 Slightly Out Of Sync

My food was spot on, today. I took time in preparing each meal and they were delicious. I measured and I weighed, I logged it all in MFP, snapped a photo and tweeted. But for the life of me, I couldn't get myself into the YMCA for a workout.

I've been sick all week, but not today. I'm almost 100%. I wasn't crazy busy today, either. For some reason, I'm in a funk. Could getting out of the routine, even for a few days, create this kind of struggle to get back in the groove?

I wish I had a wonderful excuse but I don't. I flat out chose to not go. I'm not proud of this, but it is what it is. I will not spend another minute beating myself up over this issue. Much like last night's plan, I plan on being at the YMCA tomorrow afternoon. My goodness. It's time to step it up--not down!

Maybe instead of writing "I plan to go..." Perhaps I should write, "I will go to the YMCA tomorrow."

I will go to the YMCA for a workout tomorrow. There, I wrote it. I must be accountable and actually do it this time.

I've also struggled with my water today. Being sick for several days really interrupted my rhythm!

I enjoyed a wonderful visit with my oldest daughter this evening. She turns twenty-five tomorrow! 25!!!! She's handling it very well. Twenty-five was a tough one for me. It was the age when I finally came to terms with being an adult. Amber says she's experiencing some of those feelings too. Tomorrow, we're all headed to Stillwater to finally finish celebrating Christmas and Amber's birthday all in one. We had to cancel two previous dates, so I'm really hoping tomorrow works out.

I'm looking forward to getting back to work and into the groove of the new year. I feel like I'm slightly out of sync. I need to get back into my groove!

  2. Sean, you have hit on a key aspect to success with regard to the open ended "I hope to" "I plan to" versus the "I am going to". As you know, I can reason myself into anything if I see an opening for doing what I want. I have to be INTENTIONAL in my planning to succeed, rather than abstract. I love that you are killing it again!! Great job dude!

    1. Shane-- Thank you! Me too-- If I give myself an out, I'll take it most of the time! 'Intentional' is a big, powerful word---and it's a necessity along this road. Killing it feels good and right, I'll tell you that, for sure!! Thank you, again!

    1. Debbie, Thank you--you're very right! I had a few funk days--and now, I'm winding down from a good day. I feel worlds better. Maintaining the schedule--keeping it important, is so critical, as you know--excellent point.

    1. Neca, I hope you're recovering quickly. I felt back to normal today. I even made it to the Y for a great workout! The water and eating are extremely important things. I applaud you, my friend and I wish you a speedy recovery!

  5. I am finding it hard to leave a comment given your success and my lack of same. But I have to say, I don't see any greens in your food pics. I know when I have been sick they are the last food group to reenter my menu, but they are also packed full of energy. And any kind of 'movement' is exercise; maybe do something different than the Y and then go back to it once you feel better. Here is some light reading while you fully recover. http://www.katysays.com/

    1. Vail, thank you. Yeah-- I need to get me some more greens!! I love asparagus and green beans--I just haven't had too much of them lately. I agree on the movement. It all counts! Thank you for the website recommend--I'll check it out!

  6. Sean, yes, it's definitely your body trying to get back to 100%. Your body has been yanging while you were sick, when its used to yinging, if you get my drift. Glad you listened, and didn't push yourself. Hopefully, the ship is righted, and today will be better. If not, give your recovery the gift of time. :)

    1. Gwen, thank you! "Yanging," I like that word. The ship is righted, very well. It was an excellent day today. I feel 100% better!

  7. Sean, I concur with "Shane G." I suggested only saying what you did, not what you are going to do. However Shane (and you) are probably on a better track. To build on Shane's intention, how about I writing out loud for yourself to see. "I plan to go to the YMCA tomorrow a 2:00 pm after my shift ends, and I will walk on the treadmill for three miles." Something nice and tight like that. Good luck, and enjoy the kids' 25...a quarter century :)

  8. Having recently learned that evidence proves keeping a food diary is key to weight loss and life time maintenance, I want to give you props for an awesome food diary! Apparently, evidence proves keeping a food diary far more effective than exercise in losing weight. While you were ill, you never stopped diarizing! Your focus is remarkable.

    1. Thank you, Divad! You're so right, my friend! The food diary is something I don't plan to stop, ever. It must be a part of my life, period.
Thank you for the props!! I take great pride in keeping it tight!

  9. Well, okay. We both know that I don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to weight loss advice....seeings how I regained all I lost and have kept it ON for two...three?...years. But I am the mother of two grown sons, near your age, and the grandmother of three.

    So.

I have mom cred. :D As others have said, you have been sick. Your body needs to recover, needs to refill it's chemicals that were drained to fight your illness. You would have had no business whatsoever trying to drain out even more chemicals with a workout. None. This was a time to recoup and refuel.

    I'm glad you laid low.

I hope you drank healthy warm tings full of minerals and vitamins while you let your body restore itself...even if it seems to have been against your wishes. :)

Personally, I hope you do the same on Sunday.

    Mom...oops, Deb

    1. Deb--You made me smile bigtime. Thank you. Excellent advice! Although I did feel well enough today to get a workout. I feel 100% better. I was being very tough on myself when I didn't go. But you're so right, Deb. My body needed me to give it some time. I did, and I'm much better for it right now.
Awe, Deb-- You're on your way, I just know it. You know you're capable of amazing things. Blessings to you, always.
