January 16th, 2020 Ahead Of It

January 16th, 2020 Ahead Of It

Since our last edition, I've maintained the integrity of my food plan boundaries, I've remained refined sugar-free, I've met or exceeded my daily water goal, I've had some decent exercise days, and I've stayed well connected with exceptional support.

Mom hasn't been doing well lately. Your prayers for her are greatly appreciated. It's the same pattern as before, same issues--the good news is; the doctor and mom's nursing staff are ahead of it, and this means she's not in the hospital. They're doing the lab work and making sure she's getting the medications she needs and the treatments she needs in order to keep this pattern from becoming worse. My last few visits with her were difficult because she isn't coherent--sometimes words don't connect with one another and she can't keep from falling asleep. Her short term memory is shot when she's in a downturn like this and this creates a large amount of confusion for her. It's difficult for me to see her struggle like this--but much more difficult for her because she'll often interpret the symptoms as a worst-case scenario. Earlier this week, she even called me with a "when I pass," type conversation. That was heartbreaking. I did my best to reassure her that her time wasn't up and I tried to explain to her how the medical staff there are doing their best to help her get well. Of course, with her short term memory, she didn't remember that reassuring conversation even an hour later.

I've been taking good care of my daily practice. When life becomes more challenging, it isn't an excuse to release commitments of this practice. It can certainly flex and adjust with the flow of life, but the foundational practices and the core non-negotiables mustn't be released. This is a big change from times of old when high emotion, high stress, and loads of uncertainty would act as a green light for a deep dive into the food. I'm doing my best at staying more connected, making sure I have what I need, and giving my morning foundational routine the time and energy it deserves each day. So far, so good. It's a one day at a time thing, my friend. If you've read this blog before, you know what I mean.

My daughter's Christmas gift of a new grill for me has been an absolute blessing for me! Now that I have a grill back in my food plan, I realize how much I missed it!! I used my last grill until it literally rusted through and fell apart. I don't want to ever go without a grill again! I'm so happy about the additional options grilling provides for my daily food plan.

One thing I also make super important is facilitating a private support group and mentoring a small number of private one on one clients. Openings for both are available at this time. The period for registration in the support group only comes around once every two months--and now is the time. We have a very limited number of spaces available on our team, three, maybe four max for this new 8-week session starting February 5th, so if you're interested in learning more, email me with questions! transformation.road@gmail.com I only have room for one additional private one on one, too. Please email me if you want details on how that works.

My morning foundational routine is complete, my food is planned for today, and I'm as ready as I can be for today. I hope yours is an exceptional Friday!

Do you own an "I'm Choosing Change" wristband? I wear mine daily as a constant reminder of why my daily practice of things is important. I'm not alone, either. This powerful message is worn on the wrists of people in a dozen states, maybe more, I haven't counted--but it's up there!! From New York to California and from Canada all the way to Scotland, they're out there! For me, it's simply a daily reminder to be open, willing, mindful, to pause, and to be intentional. If I'm not those things, I get stuck at the line of least resistance and back there is where the old patterns and behaviors thrive. Your order includes priority shipping so you'll get it quickly! Here's the link to order yours right now: https://imchoosingchange.com/product/wristband/

  1. Sean, Even before today's post, I sensed recently that your Mother wasn't well. I know how much she means to you, and you mean to her, because I've been reading your blog pretty much sonce its very beginning, and that love between your beautiful, loving, sweet mother, and you has been clear absolutely throughout. Now, I'm sad to read of her weakening. I know what that is like with parents weakening.... Fortunately, she has your love and support and presence. Nothing, nothing, could ever be more precious to her. You have been a wonderful, loving, supportive, fun son to her. No mother could ask for more. Prayers, and best wishes, from me to her, and to you.
