October 25th, 2019 Good Intentions

October 25th, 2019 Good Intentions

Since our last edition, I've maintained the integrity of my calorie budget, I've remained refined sugar-free, I've met or exceeded my daily water goal, and I've stayed well connected with exceptional support.

The constant outpouring of birthday wishes, messages, texts, emails, and calls filled my birthday and overflowed into yesterday. Thank you. It was an incredible blessing to hear from so many amazing people. A few shared their own stories with me and how what I do here has helped them in some way, along their way. Reading those, oh my goodness, beautiful gifts to me. I'm humbled and immensely grateful.

On day one eleven years ago, I wrote about how I envisioned this blog to be an accountability tool for me, first and foremost, and if it somehow helped anyone else, it would be a bonus. In a life full of good intentions often hijacked by circumstance, deep-seated, oftentimes negative personal beliefs about myself, and my very human character flaws, this is one perspective and purpose that hasn't wavered.

I'm reminded each new day to focus on the daily practice of things that help keep me well. I'm willing to make important certain non-negotiable elements come what may. It's not intense, it's not a burden, it's not a chore, and it isn't automatic. It requires pausing to act instead of reacting. My personal auto-pilot setting is a dangerous thing. I must remain willing, aware, and mindful. If I do, I have the best chance of continued positive progress. If I don't, then I'll quickly go back the other way. I humbly hope and pray I never do because I really like the blessings and many gifts that I get to enjoy when I'm connected with it all.

My morning foundational routine is complete, my food is planned and packed for this fantastic Friday, and I'm as ready as I can be to take on the challenges of this day. I hope yours is a good one, too.
