February 3rd, 2020 A Good Heads Up

February 3rd, 2020 A Good Heads Up

Since our last edition, I've maintained the integrity of my food plan boundaries, I've remained refined sugar-free, I've met or exceeded my daily water goal, and I've stayed well connected with exceptional support.

I'm thrilled to report: No major incidents for mom since her two falls on Saturday. The hand in hand care is going well for her. Sunday seemed to be filled with elevated confusion but today was better. It's a constant back and forth as far as that goes, seemingly a direct reflection of how much co2 is built up. My visit with mom this evening was a good one. We were able to enjoy the conversation and even share a few laughs--very different from when the co2 is dramatically altering her cognitive skills.

My friend and longtime mentor, Gerri, is recovering nicely after a very scary situation. She had what thankfully can be described as a minor stroke. After being hospitalized and undergoing every test imaginable, she's back with Dave in the RV. The prognosis is great for her in this situation--and I'm so very grateful.

I received my annual blood work profile yesterday. Everything was well within the "normal" zone except my "bad" cholesterol--it was on the high side of normal. This is the first time that number has crept up and it has me rethinking a couple things in my food plan. I consume quite a bit of half & half in my coffees each day--and I likely lean a little heavy on cheese in my food plan. Those two things stand out to me as possible culprits for this elevated number. I'm immediately making an intentional effort to reduce my consumption of these dairy products. I just might need to eliminate them altogether. And who knows? I might even crack open the steel cut oats in my pantry (that have been up there for about six months). The number was normal--but high-normal, and since I've become quite used to my doctor saying things like, "outstanding," "perfect," and "keep doing what you're doing," it was a little disappointing to hear about this change. But it's a blessing to know! A good heads up is great information to possess!

Do you own an "I'm Choosing Change" wristband? I wear mine daily as a constant reminder of why my daily practice of things is important. I'm not alone, either. This powerful message is worn on the wrists of people in a dozen states, maybe more, I haven't counted--but it's up there!! From New York to California and from Canada all the way to Scotland, they're out there! For me, it's simply a daily reminder to be open, willing, mindful, to pause, and to be intentional. If I'm not those things, I get stuck at the line of least resistance and back there is where the old patterns and behaviors thrive. Your order includes priority shipping so you'll get it quickly! Here's the link to order yours right now: https://imchoosingchange.com/product/wristband/
