Day 326 The Vital Element of Support and A Passionate Flow

Day 326

The Vital Element of Support and A Passionate Flow

I got so caught up in the wonderful shine of yesterday's major milestone that I failed to mention some very important things. I did go to the doctor to weigh-in and was going to do the blood work and numbers check on everything, plus talk to the doctor about the blood pressure issue, but then they reminded me that I need to fast from midnight the night before until I get the blood drawn. I totally forgot about that. So, I'll be fasting from tomorrow night until I wake up Saturday, then I'll be going in for the blood work and numbers! Yes, they're open on Saturdays! Good thing huh? The idea of only being able to sip water while doing my morning show is a frightening thought. I need coffee that early! So a Friday night fast and Saturday blood work and blood pressure consultation works for me and my schedule.

I also failed to identify my cousin Troy and his wife Stacey in last night's blog posting. It was the before pic where I wrote that I looked like a giant. My apologies to my Michigan cousins! Actually, I probably should have called them first before posting the pic---maybe they didn't want to be splashed all over the web on this blog. Again, my apologies. I'll be more mindful of that stuff in the future! A big thank you goes out to Gayle Williams and Anne Crail of Womyn Aloud Productions for being able to take an old DVD and finding a way to prepare it for posting last night. They spent a bunch of time on that last evening and it was awesome. Thank you two! They're really magic!

In completely breaking down my approach during this journey, I failed to properly express how much YOU mean to me and how important YOU are to my success. In the beginning I never imagined the kind of support that would develop. My family support has been incredible from the very beginning of course. The support I receive from people at work and in person everyday has been tremendously joyful. The biggest unexpected gift along this journey has been YOU---the reader of this blog. Your supportive comments along the way have been a true blessing. Even if you don't comment, I know you're reading, and that is so special to me. I never imagined that this blog would be any more to me than just an online journal to track my progress and and keep me accountable to my family and friends. I have my cousin Lynn to thank for providing me the reason to start this blogspot version. The blogging friends I've made on here are incredible. Our journey's running parallel to each other is special to me. The circle of support that we all provide each other is just amazing really. That's why I changed the name of my “followers” to “Weight Loss Superheroes.” Because we all have the power to use our experiences, journey, successes, and struggles to inspire and motivate others in a super special way. We're proving that obesity doesn't have to claim our lives any longer, we're reclaiming what's ours...we're taking back our life! So just know that the importance of your support along this journey has been critical to my success. Just as important as my “Motivating Thoughts,” “Iron Clad Decisions,” “Calorie Bank and Trust,” “Steel Curtain Zone,” and my “Unstoppable Sunshine.” I look forward to many wonderful days ahead on this road and I can't help but smile when I realize that I can look over and see you along this same road. We're getting there my friend, isn't it a wonderful thing?

I realize that many readers of this blog do not have blogs. They might read every single day without a word. If you're one of those readers, thank you very much! I love it when we run into each other and you tell me that you read everyday. I ran into Tiffany from the cable office at Wal-Mart this evening. Her and her office mates read everyday. She offered congratulations on yesterday's milestone and told me that they were talking about it today at work. That's very cool. They're such good people down there at the cable office! It's their internet service that keeps this blog running! If you're a reader, then that makes you a wonderful supporter of this blog, and I sincerely thank you as well. Like Kat Long last night, I had no idea she reads everyday...very cool indeed. I'm very lucky and very blessed to have such a solid network of support. I'm honored that you are a part of my journey.

Sometimes when I think about some of the very personal things I've written about in these pages, I get a little embarrassed. But I never consider what I will write. It's never planned. It just flows out of me naturally. That's why some of my post and paragraphs are way long---can't help it sometimes. It's my passion. Losing weight, breaking free from obesity...and sharing the experiences and all of the emotions along the way and sincerely hoping to spread a message of liberation from everything that morbid obesity creates---that's what I'm all about. And not every post is going to be fun or flattering. It's simply real, plainly honest, and perfectly imperfect. You can always count on that around here.

I prepared a wonderful new meal this evening. Pizza Dogs! I used Ball Park Low Fat 40 calorie franks, pizza sauce, low fat part skim mozzarella slices from the deli slicer, regular white hot dog buns, and even some pepperoni! I boiled the dogs, put half a slice of mozzarella in the bun---dog on top---added some sauce, two pepperoni slices, and the other half slice of mozzarella---then I baked them in the oven. The girls absolutely loved these 220 calorie tasty-melty sensations! I could even make them without the two pepperoni slices and it would make them 202 calories. If we used only half a slice of mozzarella...now we're talking 172 calories. And the baking makes them so scrumptious! These are much more calorie friendly than the traditional chili dog. And I think we like them better! Next time we'll dress 'em up with mushrooms, onions, and green peppers for a Veggie Pizza Dog!

We're heading out for a good power walk, then it's off to bed. Tomorrow is a busy Friday. My best always. Goodnight and...

Good Choices,
Sean

  1. One thing that has become clear to me in this weight-loss journey has been how essential a support network is to a successful outcome.

There are many out there with unsupportive families, coworkers or friends. Thankfully mine have been wonderful, but I know it isn't the case for everyone. This is where blogging is a true lifeline. It really is a great network.

Glad you are getting your bloods etc done - I bet the results will be revealing!

  6. I read your blog every morning as I sit here sipping my first cup of coffee. And since it is currently raining, I guess you are my sunshine this morning too!
I also have a loyal following of non-blog followers. So I know what you mean about running into people and hearing comments. I think it's so cool.
I'm also curious to hear results of the bloodwork. I'm betting you will be pleasantly surprised!

  7. Sean, I am one of those non-blog followers. Maybe one day I'll blog but right now I don't feel like I have any wisdom or inspiration for anyone else - I'm having a hard enough time dealing with myself! I'm sorry I can't return the inspiration you give to me each and every day but I can't help that I selfishly want to read what you have to say.

  10. I totally agree with you on how vital the weight loss community of bloggers and readers is to our success. 100%. I had never even considered blogging or journaling my daily thoughts before I started mine 8 weeks ago....but what a blessing it has been! There are some really cool people out there...so inspiring, so supportive, and you come to really depend on hearing from them. It's a wonderful thing and I'm glad I'm blessed to be a part of it. :)

  12. Support is vital. So glad that you have found the keys to your success. Umm...pizza dogs sound like something DH would eat and I would leave the kitchen. I'll have to tell him about it.

  13. I know what you mean about the support. I really thought I was writing my blog for myself, but quickly came to realize there was much more to it than that.

You're really in a zone, Sean. Keep it up, buddy.

  14. My blog also started out as a place to keep all my info (weight, measurements, etc)...then it turned into a journal...and now it's just something I feel I have to do. Support in any form you can get it is crucial.

I also get embarrassed at some of the personal things I write, but then I get caught up in the relative anonymity of the net...if not here, then where else?

  15. What I love about your blog is that I read your heart in your words, your love of your family, love of your family and friends and just your love of life, it's refreshing and wonderful. I totally agree about the support and weight loss bloggers being superheros.

My friends and hubby laugh because I'll talk about you just like I know you. "Guess what Sean said?" "Sean has new pics up" "OMG Sean hit 200 lbs gone!!!" My BF said I sound like a fool cause we've never met. I told her she just doesn't get us bloggers ;)
