October 17th, 2015 Every Once In A While

October 17th, 2015 Every Once In A While

A day like today is needed every once in a while. It was quiet, peaceful alone time. I was able to get some work done on a couple of projects and casually go about my day without a set schedule. I made time for some really good support interactions, cooked some great food for breakfast and lunch and then enjoyed my favorite fajita chicken and zucchini crispy tacos, out for dinner.

My workout was fantastic. I was riding the elliptical side by side with one of mom's doctors. He's a specialist she visits once a week. I finally convinced him that I am in fact on her HIPAA form. Before, he couldn't so much as acknowledge her as a patient. Now, we exchange brief "Hey, mom's doing great--she was out walking this afternoon." "She's doing wonderful, Sean, tell her to keep up the good work."

I'm hitting the pillow relatively early for a Saturday night. I'm tired and need to seize the opportunity for more rest. Letting the tweets take it the rest of the way.

  1. Now you've gone and made me hungry for fresh pineapple. Going to buy one today! Nature's candy. I never used to eat fruit when I was bingeing on sugar but now it is something I enjoy every day and look forward to it. I have gone 18 months without refined sugar and don't ever want to go back to that life again. I love seeing how much fruit and veggies are part of your plan. You don't just eat the right amount of calories, you make sure your body is nourished with the right foods. Your photos of your food help me, and I appreciate you taking the time to do this. It shows a great balance of not making this a diet, but making it a way to eat what you enjoy but still incorporating the essentials for good health. Best of both worlds. And about your day...is there any way you could have a day like this every week? You need this so much, and deserve it. Shirley from TN

    1. Nothing like fresh pineapple, Shirley! Natures candy, indeed! You and I have about the same amount of abstinence time. Isn't that cool? It's life changing.
Thank you for the compliment on my food. I truly enjoy everything I eat. It might seem like I eat the same 10-12 things-- but it works for me. And occasionally I switch it up some. :) I know what I love--that's for sure! The veggies--something I avoided eating years before--are things I adore now...Isn't that interesting!
Exactly--it isn't a diet at all. It's just how I eat each day.
I need to make more time for days like yesterday. Everything cooperated for this to happen--no scheduled location broadcasts--and things like that... Nothing on the schedule... Kind of rare. But I must remind myself--ultimately, I'm the one that creates the schedule!
      You're awesome Shirley, thank you!!

  2. I thought about you as I drove down I-35 on my way south. I spent the night outside Perry and wondered if the taco mayo on Fir St. is the same chain as the one you talk about getting your fajitas from? I found your blog through Gwen and even spent the summer reading it from the beginning! So happy for you that you've found success with the no-sugar way of life. I avoid it most of the time(at least 80%), but slip up every now and then. :( I just need to make that choice to eliminate it completely and quit pretending I can moderate it at all.

    1. Siobhan, Taco Mayo is the one fast food place I'll gladly enjoy, any time. It isn't the place where I get the Fajita Chicken Crispy Tacos-- but it is a rare visit, when I'm in a rush... I had a fast lunch there today, as a matter of fact. A crispy chicken taco with sour cream and a bean tostada with veggies, cheese and olives! I like Taco Mayo because everything is fresh. They don't use mystery ingredients or anything questionable. I've researched the ingredients--no sugar in the beans--no hidden anything. It's not as "pure" as say, Chipotle, but it's close. I love 'em!
Gwen is the best, isn't she? Her smile brings a smile to my face every time.
Thank you for reading the blog--the entire blog!! That's a lot of reading! You know the whole story, then!
You know very well--I spent a lot of years trying to moderate everything... and it just didn't work for me.
Now-- through my abstinence of refined sugar, I've experienced a breakthrough change beyond my wildest. I still can't believe what a profound difference it's made.
I sincerely appreciate your support. Again--thank you!
